What is the Average Cost of Dental Implants?

Dental implant cost depends on specific elements that your dentist will consider first. For instance, the number of teeth that you are missing and require replacement will determine the price. Additionally, the location and whether they need bone grafting is another critical factor. Bone grafts are essential in creating a solid foundation for dental implants when there is insufficient bone, especially in cases of severe bone loss or following tooth extractions to prevent bone resorption. It means that the procedure will be complicated and time-consuming as well. The process might call for extra reconditioning using bridges or crowns to complement the implants. Thus, it adds to the expenses because of the new dental appliances.

The insurance plan that you have is another contributing aspect to how much you will spend. Hence, it might cover the costs wholly or partly, prompting you to chip in some cash. If the tooth requires extraction, it will require a separate procedure to pave the way for the new implant. Your overall oral health is essential, and if you have gum disease, it will need treatment before the process continues. When you have a healthy mouth, the implantation will come out triumphant and free from complications.

Is the Tooth Implants Cost Worth it for Me?

Dental implant cost is worth every penny as it brings bountiful benefits to the table. Adults across all ages can undergo the procedure to get back their teeth functionalities. Plus, if you have dental defects from childbirth, you qualify for the procedure. Patients who have a missing tooth due to decay, injury, or infection are the best candidates. Addressing tooth loss is crucial for both aesthetic and functional reasons, as it impacts facial structure, self-esteem, and overall oral health. Adolescents who are not comfortable with their smile can have implants as a corrective measure.

Please have a look at the advantages that come with the implantation:

  • Improves aesthetic appeal: If you need to look great, an implant will do it for you with sheer simplicity. Its appearance is that of natural teeth; hence they won’t show any oddness. They fuse with the bones and dramatically change your aesthetic beauty or handsomeness.
  • Enhances comfort: You don’t have to deal with removable dentures since implants are permanent. They are fixed so that you can feel comfortable around your friends, family, and other people.
  • Excellent oral health: It is the most imperative benefit of the procedure because it restores your oral health. The implants work by preventing bone loss and stimulating bone growth as well. They provide full anchorage to your jawbone that had suffered due to teeth loss.
  • Boosts self-esteem: Your confidence will be elevated to higher levels since you look great. It translates to feeling much better as you can smile anytime you want. You can also speak without any fear of teeth slipping out.
  • Painless eating: You can chew without hassle, just like regular teeth since the implants are made of durable products. You will not experience any difficulty eating your favorite meals.

Ultimately, the costs that you will incur during dental implants differ according to your needs as a patient. They are the ideal investment since you will save your remaining teeth. Besides, they are successful, and they will serve you a lifetime.

What is a Dental Implant?

Your mouth says a lot about you—-it is your way of communicating with the world—your smile, your appearance, are all important; but your oral health is of utmost importance if you want to maintain good overall health and wellness.

A dental implant is a permanently anchored artificial tooth that acts as a replacement for a lost tooth. Dental implants are surgically placed components that interface with the jawbone and skull to support existing teeth and prevent loss of bone density. When teeth are missing in your mouth, you can develop other issues such as shifting and weakening teeth, loss of bone density in your jaw, and even a change in the overall structure of your face. A dental implant will help combat many of these adverse effects of missing teeth, providing support and function that would otherwise be compromised.

Who is a Candidate for Tooth Implant Procedures?

An ideal candidate for tooth implantation is someone who is generally in good health. Adequate bone density is needed in your jaw in order for the anchor to take hold, and you will need to be free of periodontal disease in order to receive an implant. Should you choose to have more than one implant installed, doing each procedure individually will make healing and integration more efficient.

What Are The Benefits of Dental Implants vs. Dentures and Dental Bridges?

Implants are becoming an increasingly more popular option when it comes to strengthening and improving the appearance of your smile.

Bridges involve grinding away and intentionally damaging natural teeth, which is harmful to the overall health of your mouth. Bridges do not stimulate the growth of additional bone in the mouth, so you may experience bone loss over time. Bridges usually fail after 5-10 years, as they are susceptible to decay. They will need to be replaced on an ongoing basis.

Dentures do not always fit comfortably; you may experience pinching, rubbing/chafing, and even bleeding as you wear them day in, day out. Dentures also do not stimulate the growth of bone, so your jaw will eventually shrink, necessitating new sets every so often as the structure of your mouth changes. Dentures need to be removed and cleaned on a regular basis to avoid the buildup of food particles and bacteria under the partial.

Implants, on the other hand, are firmly anchored into the jaw, so the anchor stimulates the growth of additional bone that helps to strengthen and support teeth. They function as normal teeth do, and aside from the placement of the anchor in the jaw and gum line, very little needs to be done to existing teeth to ensure a proper fit.

There are many benefits of receiving implants, including:

  • Improved appearance – Implants look and feel like your own teeth; they are designed to fuse with the bone and become permanent fixtures of your mouth.
  • Improved speech – Poorly fitted dentures can affect speech, causing pain and discomfort. Dental implants give you the peace of mind that you can speak clearly without the fear of having your teeth slip out.
  • Implants are more comfortable – They eventually become a permanent part of you and your mouth, so there is no risk of losing dental hardware or having ill-fitting fixtures that don’t work long term.
  • Implants make eating easier – Slipping and sliding dentures, as well as broken bridges, can make it hard to chew and swallow food. Implants act just like your natural teeth, grinding up food and making it easier to assimilate.
  • Implants are durable – With proper care and good oral hygiene practices, your implants will likely last a lifetime. Implant materials are very durable and easily assimilated, and they will serve you well as a permanent solution for missing teeth.

Tooth Implant Procedure

Two techniques are offered, depending on the case: the first is to open a flap & the gum and place the implant into the bone, the other is flapless. A healing abutment is then placed allowing the gum to heal around the root. Then, the implant goes through a process called osseointegration during which it attaches the bone. A temporary tooth (temporary prosthesis) may be used during this period.
It often is a simple and non-traumatic intervention that is done under local anesthesia. Our dental center also offers conscious nitrous oxide sedation for a more enjoyable experience.

Our root implants are made by Bio-Horizons. Dentists at Dr Wisdom dental center have profound experience in implantology and dental surgery. Aside from the hundreds of cases done by Dr Wisdom, we offer non-incision implantology where we don’t open the gums.

After a proper planification of your implant procedure, using a CBCT and a surgical guide, your implant is placed under local anesthesia. This gives a faster healing and with almost no pain at all. Did you know that you could go to work right after an implant surgery done with no incision?

  • Flapless surgery
  • Controlled bleeding and pain
  • Fast healing
  • CBCT 3D xrays
  • Surgical guide

How Long Do Tooth Implant Procedures Take?

The process of receiving an implant occurs over several months, and takes place in three phases:

Phase one involves placing the implant. You’ll need to undergo dental surgery to secure the implant in your gum tissue and allow it to fully heal before moving on to the next phase of osseointegration.

Phase two involves attaching the post; your dentist will attach a post to the implant that is embedded in your gum tissue. The combination of the post and anchor will serve as permanent support for your new tooth.

Phase three involves attaching a customized crown to the permanent post, and your implant is now complete. In between each phase, you’ll need to allow several weeks to several months for healing, but any time spent healing and placing hardware during this process will be well worth the wait.

Prosthesis on Dental Implant

After osseointegration, an impression is taken to allow the dental laboratory to make a custom crown or bridge. These artificial teeth will be screwed or cemented (glued) directly onto the implant or the pivot. Impressions are taken with a 3D scanner called iTero, an innovative technology in the dental world.
